Uttar Pradesh temporary exemption from Certain labour laws Ordinance, 2020 (the "Ordinance"). The said Ordinance exempt all establishments, factories and businesses from the purview of all, but three labour laws and a section of another act. With this, the state will have three active laws -- Building and Other Construction Workers Act, 1996, Workmen Compensation Act, 1923, Bonded Labour Act, 1976 and Section 5 of the Payment of Wages Act, 1936. The Ordinance will come into effect only when it receives the presidential assent.

The due dates, with respect to timelines/periods prescribed under the applicable Intellectual Property legislations towards completion of various acts/proceedings, filing of any reply/document, payment of fees, etc. in the matters of any applications filed with the offices under the administrative control of Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trademarks falling between the lockdown period of 25th March -17th May, 2020, have now been extended to 18th May, 2020.

Bangalore: self-declaration for commencing operations during lockdown 3.0. The Karnataka government has imposed certain additional requirements for companies in Bangalore which intend to commence operations during lockdown 3.0 as per the relaxations provided from May 4, 2020. Specifically, prior to commencing operations, all industries, IT/ITES companies, Data/Call centers, Telecommunication, Internet Services & Incubators are required to submit a self-declaration on adhering to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) prescribed by the Government. The declaration is required to be submitted through the link 'COVID-19 SELF DECLARATION' provided on the website www.kum.karnataka.gov.in

Bangalore: re-opening guidelines expanded. The Karnataka Health Department has issued guidelines to be followed by IT/ITeS establishments in Karnataka (applicable in Bangalore). The guidelines primarily cover safety and social distancing measures to be followed on re-opening of establishments - (i) during transportation and movement of employees (Section 1 and 4) (ii) at the premises entry, exit (Section 2); (iii) within the workplace (Section 3); and (iv) on detection of confirmed Covid-19 case in the workplace (Section 4).
