Deepesh is a member of Kochhar & Co. dispute resolution practice group. He specializes in Dispute Resolution in the construction, infrastructure, contractual and mergers & acquisitions sector.

Deepesh has represented clients in domestic arbitrations (both ad hoc and institutional) pertaining to construction contracts, employment, tenancy and insurance. He has also been involved in handling international arbitrations pertaining to mergers and acquisitions under the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), offshore contract under the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and ad hoc arbitration related to Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) contracts.

Deepesh represents clients in civil litigations before various courts in India and the insolvency proceedings before the Company Law Tribunals and its Appellate forum. He also handles criminal complaints filed before the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), New Delhi and Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India.

Deepesh’s experience also extends to advising multinational clients in the field of aerospace and defence in relation to offset policy, defence procurement, arbitration & litigation.

  • Represented and advised a Government of India undertaking under the administrative control of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas in a cross-border insolvency and arbitration dispute. The matter involved interplay between the Bankruptcy law of the U.S. and the Arbitration law in India. The client was provided with a strategic advice including representation before the High Court.
  • Appeared for a leading voice and speech recognition company in two arbitration disputes – one in India and the other one in Singapore arising from an M&A transaction.
  • Represented one of the largest engineering and construction groups in India in an international arbitration initiated under the ICC rules at the Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration, relating to an offshore process platform in Mumbai.
  • Successfully defended one of India’s largest oil & gas public sector companies in a highly critical arbitration matter arising from termination of a high-value contract for construction of effluent treatment plant.
  • Represented one of the biggest telecom tower companies of India in high stake legal proceedings in court as well as in arbitration against two of the largest telecom companies of India which are now under liquidation.
  • Advised an American multinational technology conglomerate in relation to injunction and damages lawsuit against a former employee regarding theft of commercially invaluable proprietary technology.
  • Regularly handles international and domestic commercial arbitrations, for India’s Fortune 500 public sector enterprise (PSU) where claims are always more than INR 1000 crores.
  • Advised a client and appeared on its behalf before various tax departments and thereafter Income Tax Appellate Tribunal challenging a high-value demand notice.
