Sujatha Rangachari is a senior legal professional with extensive cross sectoral experience in banking, finance, infrastructure and real estate.
Sujatha commenced her career as an advocate practicing on the civil and banking side at Chennai. Thereafter she has worked in a multitude of banks and financial institutions for over two and a half decades, traversing across diverse areas pertaining to retail, corporate finance, new products & initiatives, debt restructuring and recoveries, infrastructure and real estate. She has headed both transactional and litigation teams and successfully delivered critical and timely legal support always.
Sujatha’s expertise lies in structuring complex finance transactions, overall legal support on stressed assets, restructuring of loans and project finance. Her forte also includes establishing and administering of investment trusts and succession vehicles – SEBI regulated funds, VCFs, securitisation trusts, other regulated and unregulated entities, family wealth management trusts etc. As the former head of legal overseeing the real estate functions for a leading financial institution, she has navigated all areas – due diligence, clearing up titles, negotiating and signing off on development agreements and joint ventures, tying up of finance, loan restructuring, initiating and defending litigation. She has worked extensively in the legal environs of infrastructure development – documentation for PPP projects, financial closures, EPC administration and all associated litigations.
Sujatha has successfully overseen mergers and restructuring of companies, including driving associated documents and court processes. She has handled complex litigation strategies, including court enforcement action, SARFAESI, and negotiated out of court settlements, land acquisition, consolidation & development, RERA compliances, tenancy & buyer related disputes and varied litigation.
