Preetam is the partner in the Bangalore office of Kochhar & Co. Preetam graduated from University Law College in Bangalore, where he obtained a degree in Arts and Law. He has also earned a Masters degree in human resource management from Christ University in Bangalore. 

Preetam started his career in a corporate legal firm in Bangalore, where he advised and assisted various European clients in connection with their operations and transactions in India. He also handled several assignments in the areas of corporate and commercial laws. 

Preetam has since assisted various multinational companies in setting up their businesses in India. These assignments have included negotiating with proposed joint venture partners and providing advice and assistance in preparation of documents for various transactions. In relation to these M&A and joint venture transactions, he has also been involved in conducting due diligence on target companies in India. 

Preetam has extensive experience in handling all kinds of Real Estate transactions including extremely large and complex transactions. The work has included title verification of immovable property, negotiations and preparation of documentation, advice on regulatory issues, risk analysis in relation to non-compliant companies, Real Estate related litigation, tax structuring of Real Estate transactions, construction agreements, leasing agreements, service level agreements for facilities management, etc. 

In addition to the Real Estate and Regulatory practice, Preetam has also advised and assisted several multinational companies on various issues involving exchange control, corporate, contract and labour related laws. His expertise extends to assisting clients on preparation and review of service level agreements, documents in relation to recruitment and termination of services of employees, vendors, etc. 

Preetam has assisted clients in handling high stakes disputes, including advice on litigation strategy and risk management. He has also handled criminal matters involving extensive interaction with the police. 

• Advised and assisted the world’s leading software company with the lease of approximately 585,000 sq ft of office space in Bangalore. The work also involved advise on procurement models of construction contracts with respect to construction of a building measuring approximately 900,000 sq ft.
• Assisted a leading US based banking company with the lease of office space measuring approximately 600,000 sq ft in Bangalore.
• Assisted a US based leading retail trading corporation with build to fit lease of a building of approximately 300,000 sq ft in Bangalore,
• Assisted a US based Fortune Global 500 company dealing with storage devices with the lease of an entire building having an office space of approximately 500,000 sq ft in Bangalore and assistance with the expansion and lease of additional 40,000 sq ft of office space in Bangalore. Also assisted with the acquisition of an entire building measuring approximately 250,000 sq ft in Bangalore.
• Assisted a Spanish based renewal energy company with acquisition of approximately 400 acres of land in the districts of Bijapur and Belgaum for the purpose of setting up windmills and wind energy project.
• Assisted a US based semiconductor manufacturing entity with office space of approximately 200,000 sq ft in Bangalore and assistance with the expansion and acquisition of an additional 50,000 sq ft of office space in Bangalore.
• Assisted one of the world’s largest computer manufacturing company with the lease of building in a technology park in Hyderabad, Telangana, of approximately 150,000 sq ft and 100,000 sq ft in Bangalore.
• Assisted a global public cinematic production company with commercial space of approximately 150,000 sq ft in Bangalore for the purpose of setting up multiplex theatres and title due diligence concerning commercial space of approximately 550,000 sq ft in Hubli, Karnataka.
• Assisted one of the world’s largest online payment gateway entities with the lease of office space measuring approximately 105,000 sq ft and assistance with the expansion and lease of additional 78,332 sq ft of office space in Bangalore.
• Assisted a German company with the due diligence, preparation of documentation for purchase of over four acres of land at Hosur in the state of Tamil Nadu for setting up industrial unit.
• Advice and assistance provided to one of the world’s largest e-commerce company on the attornment of leases of approximately 2,59,527 sq ft of office space and lease of about 38,927 sq feet of office space in Chennai and also assistance in conduct of due diligence and lease documentation on two separate commercial properties at Bangalore totally admeasuring 2,50,000 sq feet and about 6,000 sq feet in New Delhi.
