J.R. Jayant is a Partner in the Firm’s Chennai Office. He has 14 years of experience in various litigation and arbitration matters representing clients all over India. His practice includes civil litigation, corporate commercial litigation and alternate dispute resolution.

He is an accomplished litigator and has experience in representing clients across sectors on civil suits, real estate, tenancy matters, commercial contracts, and corporate law matters. Jayant regularly represents various multinational and domestic corporations before various forums in the state of Tamil Nadu including the Madras High Court, National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and statutory tribunals.

During the course of his practice, Jayant has appeared in numerous domestic arbitration cases ranging from complex & intricate construction contracts, white collar crimes, transfer of technology and knowhow agreements as well as labour disputes.

• Assisted a client in securing interim protection against invocation of corporate guarantee by a PSU bank on the ground of breach/fraud committed by the bank.
• Advised and assisted a foreign client in initiating CIRP process against a Corporate Debtor and also secured interim injunction against the Corporate Debtor before admission of the application for initiation of CIRP process.
• Advised and assisted a leading international K-12 private education provider to initiate action against fraud committed by former Managing Director of an Indian Listed Company.
• Advised and assisted a Dubai based company resisting action initiated by banks for invocation of corporate guarantees.
• Assisted a Government body in securing a favourable arbitral award with respect to claim relating to maintenance of research vessel.
• Represented a client in an arbitration matter relating to dispute with regard to construction of bulk cargo vessels.
