Gaurav is an Intellectual Property Lawyer with over 12 years of experience in nearly all facets of IP Law practice, while advising and representing domestic as well as foreign clients in various IP Matters before Indian Intellectual Property Office and High Courts. He also advises clients in general commercial matters and represents clients before District Courts, High Courts, and Company Law Tribunal for corporate and competition law matters.
Starting his practice as an advocate and registered patent agent, Gaurav has drafted and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications in various technology sectors for top Indian and foreign multinational corporations having patent portfolios in India, US, Europe and Japan. He has also represented clients in several pre-grant and post-grant patent oppositions before Indian Intellectual Property Office, and in patent and design litigation matters before High Courts. He is also a registered Trademark Agent and has filed and prosecuted several trademark applications and oppositions for Indian and foreign clients.
Gaurav has also advised and represented several clients in B2B negotiations and contractual disputes in automotive sector.
He has a unique mix of experience in Technology, Intellectual Property and General Commercial Law practice encompassing drafting, transaction, prosecution as well as litigation and excels in advising clients on IP Protection and Enforcement Strategies, and Infringement Avoidance Measures, while keeping business aspects in focus.
Prior to joining Kochhar & Co., Gaurav has worked as in-house IP Analyst for a large MNC and as an advocate and registered patent agent with India’s leading IP Law firms based in Delhi NCR.
Represented an Indian Automobile giant in contentious negotiations with a foreign counterpart related to patent infringement dispute and devised cross-licensing arrangements to successfully resolve the dispute.
Representing and advising an Indian Company with US subsidiary in corporate and commercial matters in several forums including leading and handling the corresponding litigation in UK.
Represented an Indian auto-component manufacturer in negotiations related to a multi-million dollar contractual dispute with a French multi-national conglomerate in automobile sector.
