Junior Luwang is a Partner in the Firm's New Delhi Office. He joined the Bar in 1995. An alumnus of ILS Law College, Pune, Luwang had a short stint in a Supreme Court Chamber. Thereafter, he worked with a Delhi based Law Firm for more than 12 years in different capacities, the major part of which as a "Partner".
Luwang has extensive experience in Corporate & Commercial matters, his specialised fields of practice being Oil & Gas, Infrastructure and Offshore Finance. He has single-handedly accomplished a number of important assignments for Hydrocarbon Companies like Oil India Limited, GAIL (India) Limited, BCPL, GAIL Gas Ltd., Jagson International etc. His Hydrocarbon practice spans across various types of Agreements (drafting, vetting, negotiation etc.), Legal Opinions, Arbitral Proceedings etc. He has represented GAIL (India) Limited in the China-Myanmar Gas Pipeline project and in many arbitral proceedings including one related to a Gas Pipeline Project in Gujarat. Luwang has also advised Oil India Ltd. in many oil exploration projects – both Onshore and Offshore and has to his credit a number of transactions involving oil rigs for private hydrocarbon companies.
Luwang has been actively involved with SEZs in India and has advised the Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India on various issues. More specifically Luwang has prepared a detailed report on the feasibility of establishing an International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) in India, apart from drafting six different sector-specific regulations relating to offshore finance sector. Luwang has also drafted an Indo-US Social Security Agreement for the Govt. of India and submitted a detailed Feasibility Report.
The above experiences apart, Luwang has the credit of successfully advising a number of foreign clients on varied issues of corporate-commercial law including but not limited to corporate entity incorporation, Joint Ventures, Export-Import issues etc. Luwang has attended various International Conferences on various issues of corporate law and has been a speaker in many conferences organized by the Hong Kong University, Law Asia etc. Last but not the least, Luwang has extensive "Court Room Experience", mostly in the Supreme Court of India.
